EDC, Ltd. Launches Federal Safety Compliance Services

PORTLAND, OR – March 12, 2001 - Engineering Design Consultants, Ltd. (EDC), now offers an evaluation service designed to ensure door latch systems meet strict Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). Utilizing a 3D CAD system, EDC can perform a variety of safety calculations thus reducing a company’s workload.

“Many vehicle manufacturers do not have the necessary knowledge, manpower, or time to perform the analysis and develop the reports required for FMVSS studies,” stated Michael Smith, Director of Engineering at EDC. “Utilizing the knowledge base of our engineering staff, we are able to provide our customers with FMVSS studies in an efficient and timely manner. An excellent example is the FMVSS206 study we recently completed for American LaFrance, a heavy truck manufacturer.” This particular study ensures that the door remains latched in the event of a severe impact from any direction. EDC analyzed the door system and discovered a non-compliance. They then implemented a design solution allowing the door to meet federal requirements.
