Engineering Design Consultants, Ltd. (EDC) receives Intel award for outstanding PC

NEWS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

PORTLAND, Ore., 2000—Engineering Design Consultants, Ltd. (EDC) was recently awarded the prestigious Intel award for outstanding delivery of a concept PC platform for its innovative ‘N Touch wireless PC design. Intel gives this award to companies it feels have shown exceptional design excellence the international Intel Developer Forum (IDF).

The original ‘N Touch design was first presented at the fall 2000 IDF as part of Intel’s showcase E-Home. The ‘N Touch received a great deal of attention in the e-home as it was one the first wireless PC designs ever exhibited. The ‘N Touch was one of only a handful of independent designs to be featured in the prestigious E-Home showcase.

Intel was also particularly impressed with EDC’s ‘N Touch design because the PC concept was developed with little to no assistance from Intel. Intel requested EDC create a housing for its newest chip, and gave the instructions that the housing had to cost under $1000 and had to meet rough size requirements. EDC designed the ‘N Touch housing to reflected what engineers there saw as the future of PC’s—sleek, wireless and easy to use. The end product was the very impressive portable, wireless, internet-ready ‘N Touch PC.

Intel was so pleased with EDC’s design work, they paid for all entry and booth fees for the ‘N Touch. Intel also invited EDC to exhibit another wireless PC design, free of cost, at the following year’s IDF.
